Gjashtë Village

The village of Gjashtë is located on the main Saranda-Delvina road at the exit of Saranda. Gjashta is one of the newest villages in the Saranda area, created in the 20th century, around 1974-1975. Despite being a new village, like other nearby villages, it fits the local way of life. 

The biggest contributor to this village's economy is immigration. The kind residents of this village have recently improved the local restaurants with their funds by building guesthouses, hospices, and other facilities. Also, the economy consists of: grains, vegetables, citrus fruits, vines and sunflowers. 

The locals are incredibly hospitable and friendly. Proud of their traditions, they tell their story to every tourist who passes through these parts. Compared to the coastal villages whose specialty is fish or seafood, in the village of Gjashte the specialty is cooking meat.
