The village of Shelegar is located near the city of Saranda, established in 1918. The village is small, with scattered neighborhoods, with houses far and close to each other, built by the residents in such a way that they fit the territory.
The village was created by çamë refugees, who form the majority of the population with two Toscan families from the village of Podgoran, Përmet and some Labes. The inhabitants mainly developed animal husbandry. Sheep, shelegu, were raised, from where it is thought that the village got its name Shelegar.
Being very hardworking people, the residents have given the village a very beautiful and green look, with cultivated lands all around. This village remains on the list of tourist visits, for the traditional cuisine and the generosity it offers.
