The Church of Panaia is located next to the main road in Dhërmi, about 250 m from the sea. The church is a monument of cultural heritage. Panagia in medieval and modern Greek was one of the titles of Mary, the mother of Jesus, used especially in Eastern Catholicism and Orthodox Christianity.
Most churches bear the name of the Virgin Mary, as Mary is considered the holiest of all human beings. The church is open for all the religious rites that the villagers perform.
