Museo Gjon Mili, Korça

Il Museo Gjon Mili si trova nel centro della città di Korça. Nel Museo sono esposte circa 240 fotografie dell'artista di fama mondiale di origine albanese, Gjon Mili. È uno dei più grandi fotografi del XX secolo.

Gjon Mili nacque a Korça nel 1904 ed emigrò con la famiglia quando era molto giovane. Si stabilirono dapprima in Romania, dove lui finì il liceo e poi continuò i suoi studi negli USA come ingegnere illuminotecnico, presso la nota Università del MIT. Ha trasformato la sua passione di una vita, come la fotografia e l'illuminazione, in arte.

In the museum of Korça, this unique art journey of Mili is best presented, through the photographs exhibited in the rooms of the former Romanian house, also from Rome to Hollywood, with photographs of artists, sportsmen or well-known social figures. Thanks to the interactive rooms, visitors will be able to take as a souvenir from the museum a photo taken with the same technique with which Mili made his iconic photos.

The collaboration with Life magazine began in 1939 and lasted until the end of his life in 1984. He gained international fame due to his distinctive style, the visible movement in the photos, as well as the famous people he photographed, where it is worth mentioning series of photos taken by the painter Pablo Picasso. John Mill made history as the first photographer to use electronic flash and stroboscopic light. This museum is one of the symbolic buildings of the city and remains one of the most sought-after institutions by local and foreign visitors.
