Near the city of Peshkopia, in the district of Dibra, in the northeast of Albania, there is an ancient fortress named Grazhdan Castle. Built in the fourth century BC, this fortification served as a base of defense against invasions from outside the area. Since 1974, this castle has been classified as a cultural monument. The surrounding walls of the Grazhdan castle are 3.5m wide and have a perimeter of nearly 2800m, reinforced by 42 towers of square, rectangular and fresco types, fortified with massive U-shaped towers.
