The Fatih Mosque, which was built between the years 1502–1503, represents a building of significant historical value, followed by an outstanding cultural wealth. Its name taken from Sultan Mehmet Fatihu, the conqueror of Constantinople, indicates its connection with important historical events.

In terms of architecture, the mosque has a rich history. It was built on the ruins of a basilica, preserving some important elements. For example, some brick walls, part of the north arcade and the west wall are still part of the structure today. Furthermore, the western wall was reconstructed with the Cloisonnage technique, which belongs to the period of the XIII-XIV centuries.

The Fatih Mosque is one of the oldest mosques in Albania, making it a special and important building in terms of cultural heritage. Today, it is used by the Muslim Community of Albania (KMSh), giving it an active role in the cultural and religious life of the community.

The Fatih Mosque received the status of a cultural heritage monument in 1973, an indication of its importance in the protection and promotion of cultural heritage in the country. With such architectural wealth and connections to important historical events, the mosque serves as a testament to Albania's deep historical and cultural roots.
