Naziresha Mosque, otherwise known as Nazir Bey Mosque, is one of the important religious and architectural monuments of Elbasan, it stands out for its features of construction and inspiration of the early Ottoman period. An important evidence of this mosque is the inscription written in ink on the end wall of the mafil, where the date 1599 is read, making it one of the mosques built at the beginning of the 16th century.
The Naziresha Mosque was built by a high imperial functionary, who named it after his wife. It translates into a typical religious monument with Sultanate architecture, including the minaret and the dome. This mosque is located on the southern side of the ring road of Elbasan and is thought to have been an important center of the city during the period of its construction.
The prayer hall is paved with polygonal tiles, is lit by five windows arranged in three rows, and the lower part of the windows is framed with profiled lintels of carved stone. The facade of the mosque has a portico covered with a wooden roof, creating a separate entrance to the prayer hall. This detail has a special characteristic compared to other mosques.
The Naziresha Mosque has been preserved in the original form of the prayer hall and the minaret. The hall has a clean and calm atmosphere that brings a deep sense of calm.
