The tumulus cemetery of the Late Bronze Age (XV-XII Centuries BC) was discovered on July 6, 2020 by an archaeological excavation carried out in Himarë, by the Regional Directorate of Cultural Heritage of Vlora and the National Institute of Cultural Heritage. According to archaeologists, the discovery is of particular importance, as it is the first archaeological site of this type to be discovered on the coast of Himara, adding another area with tumular cemeteries to the Archaeological Map of Albania. This is undoubtedly the first and so important discovery after several centuries in Albanian land on the southern coast.
