The Namazgja Mosque is a cultural heritage monument in Tirana. This monument was approved in March 2007. Namazgjaya from Turkish - place of prayer. In 1992, a foundation stone for the Namazgja Mosque was placed near the Assembly with inscriptions in Albanian and Arabic.
The mosque is being built under the supervision of the Muslim Community of Albania and financial support from the foundation of the Turkish Presidency of Religious Affairs.
The mosque will have four 50-meter-long minarets and a 30-meter-long central dome in the classical Turkish style. The area of the mosque will be about 10,000 m2 and the first floor of the mosque will have a cultural center, conference hall, library, exhibition hall, restaurants, work rooms and ten classrooms for the study of the Islamic religion and the Koran. About 4,500 believers will be able to pray simultaneously in the mosque.
