This cultural institution is one of the most important and well-known museums in the country, dedicated to the works of the Albanian painter of the 16th century, Onufri.

The museum is located in the premises of the church of St. Mary, which was built in 1797 on the foundations of an older church with the same name. This church has been used as a suitable environment for the exhibition of rich iconographic values.

The museum collection consists of 200 objects selected from the funds of the churches and monasteries of the Berat district. It consists mainly of icons and a group of liturgical objects. The works of this museum date from the oldest of the 14th century to the beginning of the 20th century. The icons were made by iconographic painters such as: Onufri, Nikola i biri i Onufri, Onufër Cyprioti, David Selenica, Kostandin Shpataraku, Adam Kristo as well as painters with the surname Četiri (Gjergji, Joani, Nikolla, Naumi, Gjergji i riu and Ndini), as and by many other anonymous painters.

In addition to icons, the museum also displays a number of cultural objects, including textiles and metal objects, that testify to a high craft tradition in Treva e Berat. The Onufri National Museum is an important destination for art and history lovers, offering a rich cultural and artistic experience.
