The Ethnographic Museum of Kruja, a rich treasure of Albanian history and culture, enjoys a special location inside the Kruja fortress. This museum is a special building of the "chardak" type, which dates from 1764 and is a cultural monument of the 1st category. The house of the Toptan family, which serves as the environment where the museum is located, shows an authentic spirit of the time and presents a complete view of the crafts practiced in Kruja and Albania, starting from the early period of 300 years ago.
Inside the museum, as well as outside, visitors are confronted with a rich collection of original and functional objects. More than 90 percent of the objects are authentic, carefully and delicately revealing the crafts and way of life of the past period. The exhibitions include objects made with high craftsmanship from different materials such as ceramics, wood, stone, iron, cotton, silk, wool, and various embroideries.
This museum, with objects that include every detail of everyday life in Krujë, offers a time and cultural journey into the early period of Albanian history. The age of the objects covers a wide range, starting from 60-70 years to those with a history of 500 years.
