The Clock Complex, Vlorë

The Clock Complex, situated in Vlora, is a monument of immense cultural significance. In November 2006, the "Architecture" category officially approved this monument's design. The social construction erected in the 20th century is classified by its typology and was established in the year 1918.

In 1918, the poet Ali Asllani, who was serving as the mayor, took the lead in the construction of this building. Additionally, it has been backed by the monetary contributions of urban merchants. Apart from its practical functionality, aesthetic features are also important. The meerkat tower and the clock were designed by Italian specialists. The market building was completed in 1918 and was considered one of the most completed buildings in the square, where the main bazaar of Vlora was also located. It served as a landmark for the city and the commercial center. In this facility, new structures and technologies have been introduced, such as reinforced concrete and cement joints. In 1996, the building was treated with restoration works in the interior and exterior facades. The presence of ornaments in the frames and rosettes with patriotic motifs shows interest in this monument. The portrait of Skanderbeg facing the front of the building and the double-headed eagle facing east can be distinguished.

In the central area of Vlora there are a number of objects of cultural heritage, which transform this city not only into a pearl of touristic beauty, but also of history and culture.
