Church of Saint Thanas ,Elbasan

The Church of Saint Thanas in Elbasan, built in 1846, stands as a significant religious and cultural landmark. Originally constructed with modest wooden dimensions, it served as a venue for Orthodox funeral ceremonies in the Kala neighborhood. Adjacent to the church was a cemetery, fostering its importance in the community's religious and cultural life.

In 1942, a new church replaced the old one, adopting architectural features from other churches in the city. This marked a new chapter for the church, with the first funeral ceremony held for Maria e Qyqes.

Today, the Church of Saint Thanas remains pivotal in Elbasan's religious and cultural landscape, hosting various ceremonies, including baptisms. It has expanded its services to cater to children aged 3-5, providing educational facilities within the church premises.

Religious festivities like Easter are celebrated here, drawing believers and visitors alike. Situated just a few kilometers from Elbasan square, the church offers a favored setting for experiencing religious ceremonies within a rich historical and cultural context.
