The Church of the Monastery of Saint Mary of Kostar, Finiq

The Church of the Monastery of St. Mary of Kostar is located in the east, in the Ancient city of Finic. The church is built inside a cave, on the mountain of Kostar.

At the beginning of 1332, the first frescoes were made, on its northwest side. Later, around the years 1690 - 1770, they were counted together with other spaces. It is dedicated to St. Mary and on August 15th it becomes a festive day, a great pilgrimage for the whole area up to Himare.

The church preserves great historical values, not only for the nave excavated in the rock but also for the fact that it functioned as a secret school during the Turkish rule, with the last teacher being Pilo Papan.
