Haxhi Et'hem Beu Mosque is located in the center of the city of Tirana.It is a historical mosque and cultural monument approved in May 1948. The mosque was started to be built by the great-grandson of Sulejman Pasha, Molla Bey of Petrela, who laid the foundation of this shrine. He also managed to finish the corners of the dome of this mosque, around the year 1793. In 1822-1823, his son, Haxhi Et'hem Bey managed to complete the minaret of the mosque, its painting decoration, built the ceiling of the portico. The mosque was completed in 1830-1831. A feature of this mosque is the introduction of the element of nature in the decoration of the mosque. The hall of the mosque is divided into floors, in which we find still lifes, which climb up to the dome. The dome of the mosque with a majestic appearance is decorated with "Ajetul Kursine", written in spiral form. While at the end of the dome, all 99 names of Allah are written.
The mosque contains 18 windows, has a large wooden mimber. In the mosque there is also a nafil, in which women pray. The mosque of Et'hem Bey consists of the prayer hall, the portico that surrounds it from the east and north, and the minaret. The portico is covered by a roof of wooden construction and flat plank ceiling. The minaret is located to the right of the prayer hall and is connected to it on two levels, on the floor of the hall and that of the mafil. Above the body of the minaret comes the cauldron, and for exiting the cauldron, there is a narrow, low gate. The stairs inside the minaret are helicoidal made of stone and lit by small windows like windows.
The mosque of Et'hem Beu is activated every day and its doors are open to everyone, including children. The mosque is visited not only by Muslim believers but also by many foreign tourists
local for its magnificent appearance.
