 City's Bedesten, Fountain, Planetree and Cobblestone of Elbasan are a complex rich in historical and cultural values, a heritage monument that recounts the history of the city and serves as evidence of a rich period of culture and daily life.

The main market square of Elbasan was and is Bedesten, a well-known market located south of Kujunxhij street, maintaining a leading position on the eastern side of Rene and Drithna squares. In the middle of this square stood a centuries-old rampart, which stretched from east to west and shaded almost half of this square.

This fountain, with a depth of 0.70 m, has been an important water source for this area. In the period when transport was carried out by horse caravans, 12 horses.

The Bedesten plane tree is another element of this almost 200-year-old complex, which is located in the center of the city of Elbasan, marking the city with a special characteristic. The plane tree has a round crown with 4 branches and a circumference of 30 meters. Its height reaches about 20 meters, with a trunk diameter of 110 cm and a circumference of 700 cm. This ancient structure has been an important place for social and commercial events, serving for bazaars, meetings, assemblies, etc.

However, the plane tree has undergone changes and damage through fires, making it hollow in some parts. Despite these challenges, the plane tree continues to be a symbol of Elbasan's deep historical roots.

This complex of cultural heritage monuments is a rich testimony of the life and activities of this city, reflecting the various historical and cultural periods that have shaped its unique identity. It is important that local authorities continue efforts to preserve and promote this precious cultural asset.
