Pilur village, Himarë

Reivews 0

Pilur, also known as the South Balcony, just 10 km away from Himara, is one of the most frequented tourist destinations in the town of Himara. Pilur Square, in the center of the village, offers a wonderful panorama of the houses characteristic of that area.

The Piluriots originate from the old village in the northeast of today's village (Pilur). They left the old village in 1650. They first went to Kastan but soon left there and settled in today's village of Pilur. According to legends, their distant origin is the northern regions of Mirdita and Dukagjin.

The mountain road coming from Kudhës leads straight to the seaside balcony, to Pilur, to the village of "song". The view it offers towards the sea is breathtaking. From that balcony you can see the neighborhood of Himara Castle, the green shores, the monastery of Athal, the town and the picturesque harbor of Spile, etc.

Piluriot houses have a sea view. The Church of Shën Kolli was built on the top of the hill above the village, among the forest of oak trees. The dedication of the locals can also be seen in the preservation of their traditional houses. The houses are built around the center, near which the forest is placed as a crown.

Piluri is a true gem for all foreign and local tourists.
