Village of Palasë

Reivews 0

The village of Palase is located behind the Llogara pass, with an extraordinary beauty. It has a wonderful panorama with the mountains around, the crystal clear waters of the Ionian Sea.

Palasa is the first village of the province of Himara, after crossing the Llogara pass and crossing down the five turns of the mountain slope. The village is built in one of the valleys that are created by the folds of the terrain, to be protected from the currents of air currents.

Palasa used to be a big port where trade took place. Then it became the destination of the emperor Julius Caesar who won the battle against his opponent Pompey (located in today's Orikumin) in 48 BC, anchoring the ships and landing his legion in Akrokeraunë, on the coast of Palasa (called at that time Paleste). This war was decisive for the fate of the empire and the determination of the system of government.

The route followed by Caesar with his army has become accessible as a tourist destination, for all nature and history enthusiasts. This itinerary is now called the trail "In the footsteps of Caesar" and connects the National Park of Llogara with the Natural Monument, Delta of the Palasa Stream.

Palasa has become one of the most famous destinations now, not only for its nature and history, but also for the fans of several sports, especially air sports and mountain climbing.
