It is a church with three apses. It consists of a nave and a altar area, separated between them by a wooden iconostasis. Its corner parts are covered with cylindrical vaults, which open to the central nave. The nave is lighted by 4 side windows, while the altar area by 3 small windows. The church was built by the hands of craftsmen, who also worked in the Monastery of Shën Mërisë, in Krorëz.

The church was painted in 1672 by the painter Mihal Jerma. The painter's inscription is considered one of the earliest recorded Albanian inscriptions in Greek letters.

The church was burned by the Germans in World War II. Among other rare relics, the "Gospel" was stolen, written on 500 pieces of calfskin, which exists and can be visited in the Louvre Museum, Paris.

The bell of the monastery was donated in 1695 by the King of Naples and the Two Sicilies and bore the inscription "Dedicated to the Captains of Lukovo" because at that time this monastery belonged to Lukovo.
