Reivews 0

The ruins of the Church of Saint Gjini in Gruemire are located on the territorial border between Shkodra and the Great Highlands in the village of Gruemire. This church was built in the 12th century by Benedict's fathers and first served as a monastery and then as an abbey. The special feature of this church has to do with the ruins of the Benedictine abbey, which according to researchers is 900 years old. Also, according to historians, in the 30s of the last century, various conquerors, especially the Slavs, tried to appropriate this church. The ruins of this church and everything that can be felt in this place today have been preserved by the Muslim families of the area, who have never allowed its alienation in favor of new residents, or even during the communist regime. The path followed to get to the Church of Saint Gjini is not easy. Believers have to cross the stream, even carrying relatives on their shoulders, to enable their forgiveness and prayers. Today, the ruins of this church gather every Tuesday with dozens of Catholic believers and visitors at the same time.
