The Royal Family Residence is located in the center of the capital and is currently the main residence of the Royal Family. The residence was commissioned by King Zog in 1929 and was designed by the Austrian architect Kohler.
King Zog I took it as a residence, declaring himself King of Albania. After World War II, this building was temporarily the Residence of the Council of Ministers. While then around 1956 it returned to the Children's Cultural Center, where for the needs of the center it was expanded with a new construction on its eastern side.
The residence has a complex architectural design, with a rare beauty. The original mosaics and floors are Italian style and have been maintained with special care. In 2006, the residence was returned to the Royal Family.
