The Natural Sciences Museum "Sabiha Kasimati" in Tirana boasts a rich and extensive history. Originating in 1948 as part of the Institute of Sciences, it later fell under the supervision of the Faculty of Natural Sciences at the University of Tirana in the 1950s. During this time, the Zoology Department managed the zoological and botanical sections, while the Mineralogy-Paleontology division merged into the Faculty of Geology and Mines, now part of the Polytechnic University of Tirana.

In 1969, the museum underwent reorganization and expansion, incorporating additional exhibits and diverse content. By 1996, it had evolved into a designated University Service Unit, with a primary focus on advancing the study and appreciation of natural sciences within the university setting.

Featuring a broad spectrum of displays showcasing Albania's animal kingdom, including a diverse array of exotic fauna, the museum also hosts exhibitions on essential trees, shrubs, and an herbarium of industrial plants. Its geology sector provides insight into the nation's geological heritage, exhibiting key minerals and rocks.

Recently, the museum transitioned to a new location near the Electronics Market, offering more spacious and suitable accommodations for its exhibitions and activities. This move enhances its appeal and accessibility to visitors.
