The National Art Gallery is located on Dêshmorët e Kombit Boulevard, in Tirana. The National Gallery of Arts was founded in 1954 and moved to Dëshmorët e Kombit Boulevard in 1974.
The gallery is a monument of cultural heritage, type "Architecture", approved in March 2007. The exhibition area is about 5300 m². There are several exhibition halls in the gallery: such as the Renaissance Art, the Byzantine Art, the Graphics hall and the one for works made after the 50s. The Art Gallery stores about 4100 works of art by Albanian and foreign authors, which include a period of time starting from the XIII century. There is also a bust of Skenderbeu, made in 1908 by Murat Toptani.
The National Gallery of Art is the most important visual arts institution. Works from the national fund are exhibited here, divided by historical periods. Some of the most important exhibitions that are organized are: Marubi International Artistic Photography Competition, Onufri International Visual Arts Competition, Tirana Biennial. Also, the National Art Gallery promotes artists and different artistic groups from the country and the world.
