The National Museum of Medieval Art, Korçë

The National Museum of Medieval Art in the city of Korça is located in two characteristic Korça houses, declared cultural monuments. The museum was built on April 24, 1980. This museum preserves the most valuable heritage, created by Albanian painters for five centuries.

The most prestigious paintings of the post-Byzantine period are exhibited in the iconographic art pavilion. They are paintings from the 12th and 14th centuries. In the museum there are about 7500 artistic objects of: stone, wood, wool, silver and other metals. Among them are 1,200 objects, while there are about 6,000 icons, most of them dating from the Bronze Age and the Iron Age. It also consists of folk costumes and other objects that show the antiquity, tradition and originality of civic culture.
