Murat Toptani Pedestrian was inaugurated as a pedestrian street in October 2011. Its restoration and rehabilitation were made possible with the help of European Union funds.
The pedestrian path crosses several monumental objects that make it quite historical, such as: the Castle of Tirana, the Headquarters of the Academy of Sciences, the old National Library, the Building of the Former Political Persecutors, and up to the Ura e Tabakeve. The Pedestrian Promenade is frequented at all hours of the day. Murat Toptani Pedestrian Street can be considered as a natural, museum and historical gallery of the capital.
