Reivews 0

Ismail Kadare's edifice is a cultural heritage monument in Gjirokastër. This monument is of the "Architecture" type, approved in January 1963. The house of the world-famous Albanian writer, Ismail Kadare, has been turned into a museum, and is open to the public.

The house looks familiar to those who have read his book "Chronicle in Stone" where he describes every corner of the house. During your visit, you will imagine Kadare as a little boy standing by the window and witnessing not only the adventures of his grandparents and other characters in his book, but also many episodes of the Second World War.

The house was built in 1799, and was declared a cultural monument in 1991. Finally, the building was repaired and rehabilitated under the auspices of UNESCO and the Ministry of Culture.

The house museum of Kadare was opened to the public on January 28, 2018, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the birth of Kadare. Kadare's house is in the middle of the historic Palorto neighborhood and is easy to find. Inside it there are still some original objects that belong to the family, such as a chest, some photos, etc.
