Academy of Arts, Tirana

The Academy of Arts is located in Mother Teresa Square, Tirana. The Academy was established in 1966. The High Institute of Arts united three artistic institutions: the State Conservatory of Tirana, the School of Fine Arts, and the High School of Actors "Aleksandër Moisiu".
The Academy was until 2011 the only public institution of higher education with an artistic character in Albania, which offered University degrees in Music, Fine Arts, and Performing Arts. In 1990, with the changes in the educational system, on the basis of the Higher Institute of Arts, the "Academy of Arts" was established, which included the Faculty of Music, the Faculty of Performing Arts, the Faculty of Fine Arts and the Department of Culture . In March 2011, the Academy of Arts was merged and the University of Arts was created.
