Val Cave

Reivews 0

The Val Cave, a remarkable natural wonder, stands proudly east of Perlat village in the Kthelle municipality, part of Mirdita province. It's a prominent feature of the Selita mountain system, with areas like Mulli, Didha, and Valmori, ranging from 1300 to 1500 meters above sea level. Nestled away from the Uraka valley, it offers a stunning landscape.

This cave system, comprising Mulli, Qaf-kisha, Bozhiqi Plateau, Ngalli, and Val, resembles a natural castle with its massive limestone blocks. It showcases fascinating land formations, including limestone rocks from the Mesozoic era with visible signs of processing from the Cretaceous period. The cave's morphology reflects a rich geological history of synclines and anticlines.

With breathtaking views spanning the hill range and neighboring villages like Lufaj and Bručin, the cave serves as a pathway linking communities. Its entrance, about 90-100 meters long, leads to two exits, one connected to a labyrinth leading to Neziri Cave in Bruç. Inside, stunning stalactites and stalagmites adorn the cave's interior, creating a captivating natural spectacle.

The cave's landscape and morphology owe their existence to the erosive power of flowing waters and the terrain's slope. Despite its rare archaeological and geological significance, Val Cave remains largely unexplored and unstudied. It's imperative to sustainably utilize and protect this natural and cultural treasure.
