Tamara Bridge, Malësi e Madhe

Reivews 0

Tamara`s Bridge is located in the village of the same name, in Tamara of Kelmendi. The bridge was built over the Cem River of Vukli, at a distance of about 75 m before it joins the other branch of the Cem River, the Cemin of Selcë.

It is thought to have taken its name from the wife of the Vizier of Shkodra, who could not pass over the old bridge and asked for its reconstruction. These traditions date from around 1775, when the Bushatllians ruled the Pashallek of Shkodra, which also included the Municipality of Kelmendi.
Also, there are legends about the name of the place itself, which over the centuries had served with its inns as a rest center for travelers who wanted to pass from Shkodra and beyond, to other areas of Ethnic Albania, such as Guci, Plavë and Further. This bridge is beautiful even today and quite comfortable which consists of two vaults. The large vault is 13 m wide, while the small vault is on the right side. Concrete layers have been laid on the bridge, which have facilitated the passage of various vehicles. The Tamara Bridge, like all centuries-old construction works, has undergone the necessary reconstructions over the years, somewhat changing the appearance of the Bridge for the better, but it remains valuable in the development of civilization and radiates in the centuries-old history of Kelmendi and beyond.
