The cave of Maligrad (Church of Saint Mary) is located in Lake Prespa on the island of Maligrad. The Church of Saint Mary of the XIV century is one of the most valuable monuments of cultural heritage.
On the southern side of the church there is an inscription which belongs to the year 1345 and the first phase of decorating this church with frescoes. The Church of Saint Mary is an early establishment which served as a spiritual center for Albanian leaders. Here are also the ruins of Tsar Simeon's summer villa, from the 11th century. The inscriptions found in this church belong to different periods related to the history of this monument.
