Pogradec Beach is located on the shores of Lake Ohrid, near the city. It is the largest lake beach in Albania. Pogradec beach has a length of 8 km, starting from the city pier to the eastern end of Tushemishti. Its beach is divided into two parts:
• The city beach which stretches along the promenade 1 Maji and consists of fine sand.
• The beach of Tushemishti and Drilon which has thicker sand.
The formation of Pogradec Beach is related to the reduction of the lake surface (from tectonic subsidence), which led to the discovery of sandy deposits brought by the stream passing through Pogradec, and other streams flowing into the lake. Near the beach is located Driloni Park, with lush vegetation and characteristic springs that flow into the lake.
A good tourist infrastructure has been built on Pogradec beach. Along its length you can see private and public beaches, very suitable for family, day and mountain tourism. Very close to it are contemporary hotels, villas, restaurants, bars and nightclubs. The local cuisine is attractive with Koran and Belushka dishes, known even outside of Albania for their special taste. This area remains one of the most frequented by local and foreign vacationers not only in the city, but also in some surrounding villages such as: Tushemisht, Buçimas, etc.
