The island of Maligrad is located in the lake of Prespa, about 2.2 km away from Pusteci. The island is about 800 m long and about 200 m wide. It is surrounded by very steep slopes, except for the western part.
The island of Maligrad is part of the national park of Prespa, just 20 minutes by boat from Pustec. It holds a wonderful experience, among natural, archaeological and cultural values.
The island of Maligrad is characterized by a large number of caves, suitable for wild fauna. In the interior of the island there is the church of Saint Mary with an inscription on the southern side, which belongs to the year 1345. This church is an important tourist attraction not only for the national park of Prespa, but for the whole region and Albania. Objects such as tiles, columns and capitals have also been found in Maligrad, which according to archaeologists belong to a Paleo-Christian church that is thought to have been in the upper part of the lake.
