Vau i Dejes Lake

Vau i Dejes lake, located just a few kilometers away from the northern capital (Shkodra), was formed by the Drin river catchment in 1971 with the construction of the hydropower plant of the same name. It has an area of 24.7 km², with a maximum depth of 52 m.

The lake is fascinating as it passes through narrow mountain gorges, or forest banks with bushes and pines.

In the past, it served mostly for energy production, transport and fishing, while recently a special importance has been given to tourism. In the Vau i Deja lake, you can make a good alternation between bathing in fresh and clean water, exploring nature and relaxing in agrotourism spots.

One of the beauties that should not be missed for any reason is the island of Shurdhah, known as the medieval city of Sardis where three separate cultures have coexisted: Mirdita, Malësia and Zadrima.
