Kepi i Skënderbeut, Mat

Kepi i Skënderbeut, also known as Skanderbeg's Castle, is a unique natural monument located in the Mbasdejë area, near the village of Vig in Mat. Situated at an altitude of 800 meters above sea level, it offers breathtaking views of the natural formations in the area. This geological marvel, resembling a mushroom, is the result of atmospheric and tectonic forces acting on the rocks.

With a length of 120 meters, a width of about 25 meters, and a height of 140 meters, the site covers approximately 2 hectares and is closely associated with the historical figure of Skanderbeg. Legend has it that the Albanian national hero, Gjergj Kastrioti, used this site as a strategic point for observation and defense against potential threats.

Skanderbeg's Castle holds significant scientific value, including geological and geomorphological aspects, which serve as subjects of important studies. Additionally, it carries didactic, ecological, and cultural significance. Visitors can reach the site via the rural road Shoshaj (Burrel) - Qafë Murrë - Mbasdejë, enjoying the natural beauty and rich history of this unique place
