The cave dates back to before the birth of Christ and had the function of protecting the highlanders from the Turkish occupier. It was formed as a karst cave in Triassic - Jurassic limestones, 250 m long, 3 m wide and high and with numerous concretions. Although only 40 minutes away from the northern town of Puka, Kauri Cave was almost unknown to the residents of the area. At its entrance there are many traces of Christianity, as well as some of the tools and stone vessels used by the inhabitants of the area. Foreigners are amazed by the view that this centuries-old retreat offers, but also by the rare beauties of nature that accompany you to the place where the cave is located. To get to Kauri Cave, you have to travel first by car and then by the boats of the local residents, with which you get closer to the place where it is located, on the edge of Lake Koman. The many tourists who come and increase are surprised by this miracle of nature. Everything you see inside the cave amazes you. It seems to you like in a dream.
