The village of Gruemire is located in the Malësi e Madhe, in Albania. Gruemira is bordered to the north by Kom Center and Shkreli, to the east by Kom Pult, to the south by Kom Rrethinat and to the west by Lake Shkodra.
The name of the village is thought to come from the quality of a good woman. Rumors say that: some travelers, tired from the long journey, asked a woman for water who was filling the boilers at the wells located near the kroi in the north of the village. At that time it was a dry summer and the wells had very little water, however the dryness of the wells did not stop the woman from helping the travelers. The opposite is said about the village in the northeast, today called Grud-Fushë. The woman who was in the wells of the village when the same travelers crossed the road with their caravan, she denied them and even threw stones at them. Since that time the name of these areas remained with the name "Gruemire" as (the good woman) and Fushë "Grudë" as (bad woman). The name of the area or village is found in the cadastres of Venice in the 15th century as Grouemirë.
