The Great Artificial Lake Park is located in the south of Tirana. The total area of the park is 156.9 ha, while that of the Artificial Lake is 4.5 ha. The park was once a sparse forest and was known as Stanet e Gogve, as they were cattle stables kept by the Vlachs, or Gogs in the vernacular. The park is the largest massif of greenery, which began to be built in the 1950s. While in 1955, an artificial lake was created from the surrounding waters, and a 400 m long dam was built with volunteer work, which prevents the waters from flowing towards Tirana. In the southern part, the water mirror of the Artificial Lake is formed, which with its extension creates very picturesque small bays and peninsulas. The park consists of a hilly massif with slopes and a small slope. In 1957-1958, the planting of decorative vegetation began, as well as the construction of the park's infrastructure. This park includes the artificial lake and several attractive points such as: the Church of Saint Prokop, the memorials of some well-known Albanian personalities, etc. Inside it are the memorial of 45 British and German soldiers who died during the Second World War as well as the Mausoleum of the Albanian Royal Family, built in 2012.
The Great Park is also called the lung of the city because of the many plants.

• There are over 120 species: trees, shrubs and flowers.

• In the Park there are also several types of birds such as: the nightingale, the nightingale, the owl, the stone sparrow, the little water slipper, the common swallow, the gardalina, etc.
•Among the animals can be mentioned: turtles, lizards, several types of snakes, snails, and many insects that grow underground and above ground.

Inside the park is the amphitheater, called "Tirana Open Theater", built in 1974, where various cultural activities take place, mainly during the summer period. The park and the Artificial Lake remain one of the most frequented areas of the capital, a destination that offers natural environments, to rest with the family, to have fun with the children, the company or even running in nature to keep the body in shape. The green environment is the only place that the doctor advises to perform the ritual of walks, knowing that nature nourishes the soul, warms the heart and calms the mind.
