The park named "Mali me Gropa-Bizë-Martanesh" which means "mountain with pits" can be found in the vicinity of Tirana, Dibra, and Elbasan territories. The northwest of this region shares a boundary with Dajti National Park. The Bovilla basin and the Qafeshtama National Park, both situated in the northwest, seamlessly interconnect as a coherent natural extension. One of the most recent locations to be declared a Natural Park is slated for release in January 2022.
"Mali me Gropa" is full of pits and numerous karst wells. With an area of about 252.7 km2, it is dense with forests, reforestation, agricultural and orchard areas, pastures, and meadows with rare vegetation. Several peaks rise above it, such as: the peak of Bastar, Micek and the Great Snoi.
The Biza pit spans a distance of 4 kilometers and reaches up to 2 kilometers in width. It also boasts an altitude of approximately 1200 meters above sea level. The river called Biza flows into a slim canyon and empties out the pit located in the limestone mountain. Following a brief stretch on the surface, the path veers to the right, disappearing within the vast Ari or Val karst cave. According to local residents, the water emerges beneath Val village and flows into the Mat River.
The area is widely regarded as having significant potential for ecotourism. The region is abundant in natural wonders, cultural treasures, and historical significance. During the winter season, the landscape is frequently cloaked in a layer of snow that can measure up to multiple meters in height, establishing appropriate conditions for the exhilarating activity of extreme skiing. The region that encompasses Shëngjergji or Tomadheja is referred to as the ethnogeographic province and, when combined with Benda, is considered the highlands of Tirana. The Natural Park has immense prospects for the growth of the tourism industry.
