Ballolli Park

Ballolli Park is located in Berat, on both slopes of the mountain ridge of Tërpan, with an area of about 323.3 ha. The park has hilly relief, at heights of 400-900 m. Its territory consists of flysch and limestone, mixed with each other and with tectonic contacts between them.

It was declared a "managed nature reserve" in 2022. Here is also the mountain of Terpan, with a height of 895 m. Its mountainous area is bare with soft and asymmetrical slopes, which fall gradually towards the valley of Molishti and Vokopole.

Hills occupy more than half of the territory, reaching a height of 700-800 m. The most common soils are brown soils. It represents a forest cluster of mainly scrubs mixed with Mediterranean maquis species, cultivated Mediterranean pines and limited biodiversity. It is dominated by numerous specimens of large and secular oaks. There are also ash trees, among which mushrooms, lichens and molluscs multiply, which give an aroma and a wild beauty. Participating bird species are: sparrows, suitable for living in forest/shrub environments. Among the main faunistic species are mentioned: the great plover, the blue plover, the gardalina, the griffon, the Syrian woodpecker, the whistling, etc.

The area was typical for keeping wild boar and served for the population of other surrounding areas as well. The situation has started to improve and it is visited by different types of migratory animals and birds. In these habitats there are also: rabbits, badgers, foxes, wolves, roe deer, wild cats, etc. It turns out that in this area there are three types of natural habitats, of which two types of habitats are listed as priority: two more important floristic types and one type included in the Convention of There are good conditions for the development of ecotourism.
