Reivews 0

The Dardhë-Xhyrë Park, situated amidst the villages of Dardhë and Xhyrë on the Polis mountain in Elbasan, was designated as a managed natural reserve in 2022, covering an expansive area of 400.00 hectares. With Mali i Polis ranging from 1,100 to 1,773 meters above sea level, the park occupies the eastern part of the country, experiencing cold winters with substantial snowfall due to continental currents.

Noteworthy for its abundant underground and surface water flows, including the esteemed water source from Sopot mountain, this region boasts high tourist appeal. Featuring a diverse mountainous terrain, the park harbors rich biodiversity, characterized by oak and ash forests alongside other tree varieties like maple, walnut, and chestnut. Gorse dominates the forest landscape, interspersed with bunga and, in damaged areas, mulberry, red juniper, and milkweed.

Home to a variety of large mammal species, including wild boars, rabbits, wolves, foxes, and jackals, the park holds significant regional value in the Balkans. Additionally, the rocky crevices host an array of flora such as geranium macrorrhizum, asplenium trichomanes, saxofraga paniculata, athamantha macedonica, achillea frasi, origanum vulgare, salvia glutinosa, digitalis ferruginea, and tanacetum macrophyllum.

With its diverse natural elements and captivating landscapes, the Dardhë-Xhyrë Park stands out as one of the most promising and appealing areas for tourism development.
