Saint Mary's Church of Athal, Himara

The Church of St. Mary of Athal in Himare is a church with unique values and since 1963 it holds the status of 'Monument of Culture'.

It is of the basilica type and is located at the top of the Xhumba hill, where its ancient ruins are also.

The church was rebuilt on April 10, 1975 during the time of the bishop of Himara and Delvina Joaniqi, with a three-nave basilica and a vault, measuring 11.8 x 6.6 m.

Every year, a beautiful festive tradition takes place there, on the blessed day of August 15. Over 300 believers gather and enjoy the rites of this holy day.
