The Castle of Lëkurës is located southeast in Saranda city. The castle has a special strategic position and from there the whole city can be controlled, as well as the islands of Ksamil. It was declared a monument of historical and cultural value in May 1970.

This castle is thought by historians to have been built around 1537. Its construction coincides with the time when Sultan Suleimani attacked Corfu and it was necessary to control the Pier of Saranda, along with the road connecting it to Butrint. The region traditionally belonged to the southern part of Himara. At the end of the century XVIII, the castle was attacked by Ali Pasha Tepelena.

The castle once supported the old village of Lëkurës. It has a square shape with two round towers, located in the northwest and southeast. The first floor served as a warehouse. It is clear from the location that the main purpose of building the fort was to observe the sea. The height of the walls reaches 6.7-7 m and their thickness up to 2 m.

From the castle you can look at the extent of Saranda, Corfu, as well as enjoy the colors of the sunset or the lights of the city in the evening like no other place.
