Sopot Village

The village of Sopot is located in Stravaj, in Librazhd. Sopot was declared a protected area in 1996, with an area of about 300.00 ha. You can go there from three directions, Elbasan-Zavalin Sopot, Polis Sopot and the third road Qukës-Stravan, at a distance of about 25 km. The "Star of the Alps" also grows in Sopot and is the only one in the Balkans. Thermal waters flow from the mountain springs in Guri e Pëllumbi, the Nenza highlands and the Shrebrenica river. Gostima waterfall with karst caves is also found here.
It is characterized by a great species and habitat diversity, the existence of endemic and sub-endemic plants, among which: hypericum albanicum and lilium albanicum stand out. This area encompasses a multitude of habitats: forests, subalpine and alpine pastures, glacial lakes,
canyons, peaks, etc. The combination of forests with ah and fir, located on slightly sloping terrain, with pinus leucodermis, pinus peuce, alpine pastures and the vegetation of cheltire give this territory a special beauty and touristic and scientific value. Endemic and sub-endemic species of plants are found, with over 110 species of medicinal plants. The centuries-old forests and endless meadows range in height from 800 to 1970 m above sea level and the highest point is Gaferri peak, 1972 m. The area constitutes a very important core and biocorridor for large vertebrates such as: bear, wolf, lynx, wild goat, wild cat, roe deer, etc.
Sopot is a tourist village, which thanks to its nature, is considered one of the most beautiful and richest areas.
