Reivews 0

Valbona Valley National Park is located 25-30 km north-west of the town of Bajram Curri, between the Albanian Alps in northern Albania. The park has an area of 8000 ha and is considered the miracle of the Albanian Alps. Valbona Valley starts from the Valbona Pass in the west and ends in the Drini valley in the southwest, very close to the Fierza hydropower dam, with a length of 50.6 km.

It is one of the unrepeatable wonders of the Albanian alpine nature and the most visited tourist area in the Tropoja district. To get there you have to pass the village of Dragobi, which is the largest in the area, with 100-200 year old stone towers. On the right side of the river at Valbona, there is the cave of Bajram Curri.

The brown forest lands lie between the altitudes of 500-1200 m, while the velvet lands lie on the left slope of this valley up to Shoshan at the altitude of 400-900 m. Gashi River (in Shoshan) and the Bushtrica River (Bujan) are two important branches that join the Valbona River. The Rragami waterfall is the source of the Valbona River and is located near the village of the same name (Rragam).

The village of Valbona is almost 1000 m above sea level, and has a fairly cool climate during summer. It has about 30 houses, mostly old 2-3 storey towers, with thick stone walls and characteristic alpine wooden roofs. This area of rare beauty is preferred not only by local tourists but also by foreign tourists, who like to learn about the customs and traditions of the northern villages.
