The Karaburun-Sazan Marine National Park extends over the space of 1 nautical mile, along the Karaburun Peninsula (from Saint Vasili Cape to the Langadha site) and around the Sazan Island. The "Karaburun-Sazan" aquatic/marine ecosystem, declared a "Marine National Park" on 26.01.2022, expands from 12,428 ha to 12,437.7 ha.

Karaburun Peninsula is a nature reserve, while Sazan Island is a military zone. In July 2015, Sazan Island was opened to the public by the National Coastal Agency.

The park is a miracle of Albanian nature, where about 36 species of marine fauna and flora live, of national, regional and global importance. It also remains an important place for species such as sea turtles, Mediterranean seals, dolphins, and sharks. The Mediterranean seal is an emblematic species of the park which has recently reappeared, which indicates that this park has returned to its habitat. The underwater scenery is also of exceptional quality, with cliffs, underwater caves.

Posidonia Oceanica meadows provide a relatively high biodiversity of marine bottom macrofauna including: sponges, cnidarians, bryozoans, molluscs, annelids, crustaceans, echinoderms and ascidians. The area is also important for fishing. The fish fauna consists of several species that live at the bottom of the sea and in groups such as: small and large fish, crustaceans and molluscs.

Biodiversity, landscape and culture of this area are unique for the Mediterranean. The beauties that nature has bestowed on this park have turned it into one of the most beautiful tourist destinations in the country, which is visited by thousands of tourists every year.
