Kuturman Village

 The village of Kuturman is located in the northwest of Librazhd, with an area of ​​3,600,00 ha.  It is crossed by the river Shkumbin and is about 15 km away from the city.
 According to documented historical data, the village of Kuturmani has an ancient history of archaeological finds, constructions, numerous toponyms with a historical character prove that it has been inhabited since the VI-V century BC.  One version of the name of the village is thought to be that: the first inhabitants of the village settled in a place that the locals today call "Mollët e Kurtit" and according to the head of the tribe named Kurt Mani, the village was named Kurtman, Kuturman.  Another version is: In a place called by the locals today the hill of Gjokolaj, at a branch of the Egnatia road, there was an inn, which had four manas around it and was named, "Inn of four manas, giving it the name of the village  Katërman, today Kuturman". According to the documents of the Ottoman Empire, the village was not only large in number of inhabitants, but also economically developed, where it stood out for the cultivation of: tepa, millet, grapes, rye.
 A branch of the Egnatia road passed through the village of Kuturman, starting from the "Kamara" bridge in Miraka, following the river Shkumbin and Rrapun to the arched bridge, which was built 10 m above the current bridge of the village and continuing to Dibër. While a branch  the other side of the Egnatia road, passed through the village and went up to Breza mountain, making a short and secret connection with Elbasan.
 From the 16th century, a great exterminating epidemic spread in Kuturman, which killed about 90% of the village's population, where only about 200 of the 3,000 inhabitants lived. About 14 tribes were extinguished, while the remaining inhabitants were  they dispersed in the surroundings of the village, making new constructions and formed today's neighborhoods.  The area represents the values ​​of the broad representation of the oak forest, its flora and fauna.
 It was also used as a reserve for hunting: wild boar, rabbit, partridge, etc.
 The area is divided into two villages, Kuturmanin and Marinaj.  The current population of both villages exceeds 2000 inhabitants.  It remains attractive with its natural beauties and for the numerous plots cultivated with cherries.  The area has potential for the development of ecotourism.
