Path of the Mills (Shtegu i Mullinjve), Dhërmi

Reivews 5

The 1.5 km long Mill Path is located between the village and the beach in Dhërmi. It is called the "Mill Path" because it is full of mills, which once worked with the flow of the Potami spring. Today, only abandoned buildings remain, which are being restored as part of nature by being covered with bushes and leaves.

There are signposts, specified points along the entire path, and the road is covered in stone pavers. The village's secondary road near Dhërmiu Beach or even the one close to the Potami River's source can be taken.

You will walk past churches that are over two centuries old, a stunning waterfall, the remains of Albania's first hydroelectric power plant, and more while walking along this road. The site where the ladies of the Dhërmi village washed their huge clothing and woolen carpets is dërstil, or Trovea as it was once known.

The first hydroelectric power plant, built in 1952 in Albanian villages, is located just before the waterfalls.

This hydroelectric power plant was built with the assistance of the village's immigrants to the country. After climbing above the waterfall, the stone-built village of Dhrmi appears to be quite attractive.

There are benches and other places to rest along the path where you may take in the beautiful views and relax in the fresh air. Before, only the locals would use this path to go to the beach, but now it is a popular tourist destination that attracts thousands of visitors each year. For all ages, it is reasonably priced and accessible by foot.
