Reivews 0

Kuzum Baba is located in the eastern part of Vlora, about 30 m above sea level. This religious center of the Bektashian sect is located on top of the hill like a natural terrace. It got its name from Sejid Ali Sultan, known as Father Kuzum (Quzum Baba). It is believed to have come from the family of the Prophet Muhammad, a Bektashi spiritual leader, whose body according to local tradition is buried here.

On this beautiful hill where the city of Vlora and the sea can be seen, Kuzum Baba's tirbe was raised. Teqeja has developed its activity in every period and today, it is one of the most important centers for the Bektashis of Vlora and all of Albania. The clerics who have served in this sect are: Dede Ahmeti 1945-1948: dervish Qebir Metlliu, dervish Xhelo Sinani in 1950, father Abedin Agaj, 1950-1956.

The large Teqeja was rebuilt on the foundations of the old Teqeja, with a beautiful two-story architecture. The works were done with concrete, plastered brick and there are all the necessary facilities to perform religious rites. The foundations were laid in 2000 and it was inaugurated in 2003. It is surrounded by walls and has a dome type tomb in the Bektashi tradition.
