Shën Thanasi Church, Dhërmi

Reivews 0

The Church of Shën Thanasi dates back to 1671 and is located in the center of Dhërmi village. The building is characterized by flat walls with a straight frame under the roof. The right angle is realized through two superimposed stone slabs.

In 1963, the church was declared a cultural monument by the decision of the Rectorate of the University of Tirana, which was also supported by a decision of the Ministry of Education and Culture in 1967. However, just one year later, the Church of Shën Thanasi was removed from the list of monuments and was demolished in 1969 and rebuilt again in 2015.

The reconstruction of the Church of Shën Thanasi was made possible by the Albanian Development Fund, which has taken over the retraining of the villages of Vuno and Dhërmi.

The goal of these interventions is to turn the south into a tourism destination not only for the sea, but also for the historical and cultural heritage.
